What is Islam about

Hi, this is Jacob de Villiers. I discovered Islam. What?... you might ask? What's an Afrikaner doing being a Moslem? He probably married a moslem girl hey. No, not so. I found something deeper and is now understanding reality. In otherwords, I came out of the unrreal world I have been living in. Let me share the following experience with you.

How Esteemed is Dr Zakir Naik?

Message
How Esteemed is Dr Zakir Naik?

The issue of apostacy is so important as it affects human lives.

I am quoting two verses from the Quran for Dr Zakir Naik to read:-

4:137 Those who believe, then disbelieve and again believe, then disbelieve, and thus grow stubborn in denial of the Truth, God will not preserve them against the Law of Requital, nor will He intervene to walk them through on to the Way.

2:256 (Although this Message has been sent down by the Almighty) there is absolutely no compulsion or coercion in Religion. Whoever rejects false gods (such as the clergy, human ‘authorities’) and attains conviction in God, has grasped the Unbreakable Support. And God is Hearer, Knower.

Sadly Dr Zakir equates apostacy with treason. In every land treason against the state is a capital offence and brings the death sentence, especially during war times.
Religion has at its core a set of personal beliefs and if these change the Quran is quite clear that this is a matter of free choice, the results of which will be determined by Allah, not some Mullah. Hence, treason is not the same as changing ones belief, however much Dr Zakir wants us to believe it is so.

A few more verses for those who do not accept the Quran as the ultimate authority to live by:-

2:170 When it is said unto these (satans), "Follow what God has revealed", they say, "Nay! We follow that wherein we found our ancestors.” "What! Even though their ancestors (and the ancient Imams) were lacking in understanding and were not rightly guided?”
[18:29, 31:22. No compulsion in matters of religion - This Rule shall have no exceptions since Right has been distinguished from Wrong. (3:4). At-Taaghoot = Those who, in rebellion to the One True God, claim to have Divine powers or try to portray themselves as His representatives = Sufis, mystics, priesthood, clergy, tyrants. Tagha = Rebellion. Idols of stones cannot rebel, hence, they cannot be At-Taaghoot]

2:257 God becomes the Close Guide of those who, after due reflection, have chosen to believe in His Word (12:108). He brings them out of darkness into Light (through the Qur’an). Those who deny the Divine System of Life have human "authorities" as patrons to lead them from Light to darkness. Such people have chosen Fire to be their eternal companion.

Let me a say a few more things about the ‘legendary’ Dr. Zakir Naik:

Death punishment for Apostate.  See this video for the evidence.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ44MDiwUkk

Dr. Zakir Naik is wrong! The Qur'an does not prescribe the death penalty for any apostate--but ALL 5 madhabs ( 4 Sunni + one Shia) do. Dr. Zakir Naik agrees with mullahs. Is he any different from them?

Here is another video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOog2NmrXgI

This video is irrefutable evidence that Dr. Zakir Naik justifies Saudi Arabia's law of not allowing the building of any churches/synagogues in Saudi Arabia. Let me ask:

Why is he and the Saudi scholars so afraid of other religions? Why do they feel so insecure to prevent the building of worship places in their countries Yet it is ok to build mosques in western countries?  If Islam is Haqq (truth)--and I believe it is--than why do we not allow other human beings to follow their own religions--especially when churches and synagogues are, according to the Qur'an, places where God's name is mentioned!

Just the other day, I saw a feature about the Hindu’s not being able to have/build their “shamshaan ghaat” for handling their dead according to the Hindu rituals in the Khaibar Pakhtoonkhawa province of Pakistan.  They are compelled to bury their dead in a Muslim cemetery in Dera Ismail Khan! Is that what “No compulsion in  religion” means???

ALL 5 major religions have this horrible stoning law in their Shar'ia and I have not seen a single instance where Dr. Zakir Naik ever differed from traditional “ulema”. Many major Ulema are—as they should be—against terrorism and suicide bombing but even those seem to add “so what, there is terrorism in other countries/religions as well”. As Dr. Naik puts it “Hitler killed 6 million Jews and he was a Christian etc”. This is a strange logic which is accepted without question. Hitler did not kill Jews under any religious edict or conviction. We do not find much of Jesus in his life.

You can also listen to Dr. Israr Ahmed –another so-called “great scholar” of Islam who points out that ALL Qadianis should have been killed when they were declared non-Muslims!! Please go to.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYymQm461Mk

The real Islam is not by ‘terrific memory” and going around lecturing to the choir—it is by diligent study of the Qur’an and preaching of its true precepts and there are plenty of arguments there in favour of “No compulsion”, “No stoning for adultery”, and “All life is sacred and do not take it except in justice’.

But both Drs—Zakir Naik and Israr Ahmed are Qur’an-illiterate. They are stark idiots—doing much more damage to Islam than the “non-Muslims” can ever imagine.

How Educated Are Our Educated?

How Educated Are Our Educated?

Please allow me to ask this question. In my humble opinion our educated, too, are not educated – generally speaking. This is because of a faulty education system which does not enable one to “creatively reach out to the unknown” and does not motivate one to “develop a well-organized (coherent) body of ideas”. I will believe that our educated are truly educated when I will find that they have developed a holistic outlook. As long as they will continue to look at things piecemeal with an atomistic approach and will not worry about the whole picture I will hesitate considering them educated. I will hesitate considering them educated as long as they do not mind running into self-contradictory situations every now and then unmindful of the fact that TRUTH is free from self-contradiction.

Our educated are not educated unless they think differently. Unless they look at the things differently. Currently, they hold the same opinions which the uneducated and the less blessed among Muslims hold. The only difference is that the latter are not able to articulate those opinions as eloquently as the former are. Our educated are not truly educated if they, too, react to the situations emotionally. If they do not take the discussions to the final conclusions, they are not really educated.

In almost all aspects of our life we need to adopt a different approach. Almost about all the issues we need to think differently. There are numberless notions that we have inherited from the past and we are passing them on without scrutinizing them. If we do so, our future generations will most likely do the same. The most crucial area that requires rethinking is the divide between deen and dunyaa and deeni and dunyaawee ‘uloom. Apparently many among us do not believe in this divide. But in reality even those who do not subscribe to this divide keep dividing the same at the deep psychological level. This I notice on a daily basis. And among the educated.

Our educated, too, have plenty of preconceived notions. We ALL need to carry out an exercise which could be termed as jugaali – for want of a better expression. I am not aware of its English equivalent. Did not search for it either as I thought that no translation can probably convey the essence.

This jugaaliwe are not used to. We have not developed a habit of “staying with the problems longer”. We get bored and then change the topic half-way. Hence, we are back to ground zero – most of the time. The educated among us should have been more patient and keener to find out the truth (reaching out to the “unknown”). They are not quite concerned about it. Who else will be concerned about it is beside the point.

Only with jugaaliwe will be able to “reach out to the unknown”. Without this jugaalithe fodder will not become food. It will not become juzw-e-badan. It has not become despite so many colleges, Universities and various other seats of learning. Our education system does not teach the art of this jugaali. It makes us master the art of “vomiting”.

I wish we could hear what the Muslim Ummah says to and wants from us. I don’t know if we have any tools to listen to its call. It could have spoken clearly and audibly. But there is too much noise.  To make the matters worse, we have stuffed something in our ears and have that education system which makes us mired into the parts – leaving the whole beyond our reach and perspective (“Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. So leave them in their bewilderment for a while.” (al-Mu’minoon, 23: 53). This is particularly symptomatic of our ‘religious’ organizations. The confluence of the two divergent streams of knowledge is not our concern. In other words, the dissipation of our energies and resources is not a cause of worry for us.

The example of our educated, too, is the proverbial ‘watching of an elephant by the a few blind men’. They all described the elephant as per the parts which they had touched. They could not describe the elephant as a whole because of not being able to see the entire mammoth animal. Ours is the same situation which is proved by the directionlessness of our efforts and the partial outlook that we have towards life. We are standing at various stations in our cognition and are passing judgements from there without trying to map the entire journey and decide the final destination (a VISION) – as regards this world. I kind of think that without our maximum efforts to turn this world into a veritable paradise our desire for Paradise will be and is hollow.

I have hardly seen any modern educated among Muslims who is concerned with the whole picture. I haven’t found them quite keen on putting all the bits and pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together in order to see the whole picture. They are as much atomistic in thinking as are the uneducated. Remaining contented with the atomistic thinking defeats the purpose of education. This is because “the whole has a value which the parts do not”. The whole has an extra property / quality which is missing in the parts.

The thankfulness is missing from among the educated as it may be missing from the uneducated. The educated were expected to be more and more thankful and should have spread this thankfulness among the masses. They have done just the opposite. This is in stark contrast of the injunctions of the Book. No surprises. Because our Right Hands are empty anyways. We will remain uneducated unless we think differently which is what the Book teaches us. The educated and uneducated both will blame the communal forces and both are equally oblivious of the fact that we have significantly contributed towards the communalism of the majority community.

Our educated ignore larger issues and are mired into smaller ones as much as our uneducated and less fortunate ones are. From this yardstick, too, I do not find much difference. Our educated will also discuss the utilities of the modern tools and gadgets as do the uneducated and the ignorant. Our educated will also not mind feeding the problems and starving the opportunities as the uneducated might do. Our educated, too, will spread negativity as do the less educated. Our educated too will instil in the mind of the twelfth player that he is the twelfth player and the twelfth player will remain the twelfth player. But the one who says it is himself a contradiction of his own claim.

Our educated will vehemently criticise the West for all its misdeeds. But he will not have any positive program for the same West and will almost discount it from the purview of the dominion of Almighty and our field of action. He will benefit the most from the West – at the personal level – but will react differently to all the emotive issues without realizing the implications.

Our educated will also learn wrong lessons from the right stories. An incident will occur and they too will react in a manner less desired, I guess. For instance, discrimination in services and selection in various competitions may be a reality. Instead of doubling the efforts many among our youngsters get disheartened before even the outset and get de-motivated. This they have learnt from their older generations. The ban on the entry of our speakers in certain countries was a story and a right one. We learnt wrong lessons from that right (factually correct) story. We learn history. We should learn from those events which divided the Ummah. But we refocus on the same issues over and again. Hence, history becomes counterproductive as it does exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to.

Our educated, too, are not transformed into leaders with the power of critical and scientific thinking. They, too, will wait for a leader to mysteriously arrive from somewhere and carry out the specific jobs. When asked about the kind of job they expected from the awaited leader they will not have a much clear idea about it. When asked what questions that awaited leader will answer, they will not be quite specific about it either.

Our educated, too, do not really appreciate the value of ideas. Just as the non-educated don’t. Our educated, too, will talk less of ideas and more of persons. No matter how many times they are reminded to discuss issues they will not do so. They will again start talking about persons. They are the ones expected to address the issues in a dispassionate manner. They will address the issues in every other manner except the dispassionate one.

Our educated, too, do not worry about the common thread and a connecting link between all that they say, write and do. They do not worry about the fact that all their speeches and writings as well as actions should support each other and should not run counter to any of the injunctions of the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah. Not being careful about it, we say one thing now and counter it the very next minute. It happens so frequently that one is surprised at this phenomenon. Resultantly, we remain a confused lot. We don’t find (and don’t really seek) a clear direction. I am not sure how long will we persist in this situation.

Did the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ever contradict himself? Didn’t he have the complete picture? Why his followers don’t? Did he support one thing on one day and opposed it the other day? Was his outlook atomistic or holistic? Did he have a positive program and a mission, too, for the entire world – despite the fact that he fought with enemies as and when demanded by the circumstances? We need to learn from the school of our Prophet (pbuh) and the Textbook.

The incoherence (disorganization) of ideas (bey rabtiy-e afkaar) – in the traditionally and modern educated alike – is the menace. It is the real culprit. And we need to fight with it to the last soldier.

Thanks and salaam.

Quranic Proof o fthe marriage of Maryam

Message
Please see the Quranic proof that Maryam actually did marry and subsequently conceived a child WITHIN wedlock. No miracle.  Just ordinary works of nature.

The Quran states in Surah Maryam the following:  And I quote several translations:

She asks the question:

Maryam 019:020
[QXP] She said, "How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me? For, never have I been a loose woman!" (3:46), (19:28).

Then she gets an answer....

Maryam 019:021
[Yusuf Ali] He said
: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': It is a matter (so) decreed."

[Pickthal] He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me. And (it will be) that We may make of him a revelation for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a thing ordained.

[Arberry] He said, 'Even so thy Lord has said: "Easy is that for Me; and that We may appoint him a sign unto men and a mercy from Us; it is a thing decreed."'

[Shakir] He said: Even so; your Lord says: It is easy to Me: and that We may make him a sign to men and a mercy from Us, and it is a matter which has been decreed.

[Sarwar] He said, "This is true but your Lord says, "It is very easy for Me. We have decided to give you a son as evidence (of Our existence) for human beings and a mercy from Us. This is a decree already ordained."

[Khalifa] He said, "Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me. We will render him a sign for the people, and mercy from us. This is a predestined matter.' "

[Hilali/Khan] He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah). "

[Hilali/Khan revised] He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.' "

[Malik] The angel replied: "So shall it be -Your Lord says: `It is easy for Me. We wish to make him a Sign for mankind and a blessing from Us’ - and this matter has already been decreed."[21]

[QXP] The angel answered, "Thus it is; but your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, so that We make him a symbol for people and a grace from Us. (A symbol of belief and disbelief, with the grace of Revelation). And it is a thing decreed." (
3:46-47).

[Maulana Ali] He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord says: It is easy to Me; and that We may make him a sign to men and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter decreed.

[Free Minds] He said: "It is such that your Lord has said, it is easy for Me. And We shall make him a sign for mankind and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already ordained."

[George Sale] Gabriel replied, so shall it be: Thy Lord saith, this is easy with Me; and We will perform it, that We may ordain him for a sign unto men, and a mercy from Us: For it is a thing which is decreed.

[JM Rodwell] He said: "So shall it be. Thy Lord hath said: 'Easy is this with me;' and we will make him a sign to mankind, and a mercy from us. For it is a thing decreed."

[Asad] [The angel] answered: "Thus it is; [but] thy Sustainer says, `This is easy for Me;" and [thou shalt have a son,] so that We might make him a symbol unto mankind and an act of grace from US.-16 And it was a thing decreed [by God]:

All the quoted translations agree that the Angel said that something will be.  "So it will be"!

Now let us ask ourselves the question, What is it that will be?

What is meant that “It will be”

It clearly means that something will  happen!

So, we further ask, what will happen?

Here we only have two possibilities, viz, the lawful & the unlawful,. No third possibility is indicated by the said verse.

Maryam said, "How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me? The angel replied: "So shall it be", or “So (it will be)” that is a man will touch her lawfully.

Clearly Maryam will marry a man & that man will “touch” her. So simple! A positive approach, because she was not a loose woman, as the Quran states that "For, never have I been a loose woman!" (3:46), (19:28).

So simple, no unusual occurrence, no miracle at all.

FW: Why Muslims are in the present down trodden situation?

Message

Why Muslims are in the present down trodden situation?

I have written to many scholars on this topic but it seems that people do not care to reply, whether I am wrong or not. This is indeed a sad situation.

During this time I started to wonder why the Muslim world was mostly in turmoil and in most instances Muslim forces are being annihilated. Yet sir, the Quran promises that if we live according to the Quranic laws, then Allah will make us rulers on the earth as in surah Nur verse 55.  Presently I cannot see that Muslims are even remotely near to achieving this status on earth. It started me to think of the possible reasons why. Ishould cross one’s mind that it stands to reason that perhaps Muslims are not practicing the Divine laws?

Dear reader, I sincerely hope that you will not consider my questions as an affront, but that it is just a sincere attempt by myself to understand the situation which the Muslims are finding themselves in at present.

Now, for many Muslims they will regard this as minor and of no consequence. However, I have come to regard  it as the single most important reason why the Muslims have reached such a low regard and status in worldly affairs and matters. I would like to start off on this topic by referring to Surah Nur verse 55:

Surah Nur

024.055

Yusuf Ali: Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: 'They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me. 'If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.

This verse is so important, but it seems that Muslims do not give it much attention.  Yet if we did it will certainly start the turn-around of the Muslims fortunes.

According to this verse of 24:55, Allah has promised that those of the nations that believe in the Divine Laws and strengthen human resources, Allah will surely make them rulers in the earth - Just as Allah granted rule to the previous nations. See (28:6, 33:27).

One might ask, how did Allah raise them? The Quran explains to us beautifully:

Surah: AL-AHZAB

033.027

33:27 And He made you inherit their lands, their houses, and their wealth and land you have not trodden. Allah has Supreme Control over all things, and all events take place according to His Laws. (24:55).

Can we see how Allah establish people on this earth?  The Quran goes further and states:

Surah: AL-QASAS

028.006

And to establish them in the earth, and to show Pharaoh (the King) and Haman (the Chief Adviser and High Priest) and their troops what they feared from the Israelites (rebellion).

Now, let us think about the plight of Muslims world-wide. Are we truly prevailing anywhere? Aren't we subjugated slaves of foreign powers, even in our own countries? Dear reader we must think about it honestly and ponder if we are not stagnant in our thought and action. Either the Muslims are not true believers or the Quran is wrong by declaring that the believers will prevail, Na-oothubillah!

If one starts to dissect the problems, it becomes clear that Muslims are not fulfilling Allah's conditions to prevail in the earth.

A certain philosopher, professor A.N. Whitehead points out in one of his works, that accepting the customary thought without criticism is a form of idol-worship. He says, it brings the development of the human mind to a standstill.  Dear reader, I found that amazingly, the Quran describes idols as authan(things that do not move). This statement supports the assertion that Muslims have become victims of blind following and are, therefore, stagnant in their thinking and action.

However, I have to affirm, despite what I said in the previous paragraph, there is no doubt in my mind about the Quranic Truth that the believers will always prevail. But very importantly, the key word here is “believers”.

By researching authentic history one finds that when Muslims were adhering to the Quran they were the most dynamic force in the world to contend with. History is replete with their accomplishments in all walks of life. Examples of these achievements are:

Governmental, morals, philosophy, science, architecture, military, agriculture, medicine, surgery, physics, chemistry, optics, art, etc.  In fact that era of accomplishments provided the most pragmatic test for the Quran with absolutely convincing results for humanity to behold. In fact, according to Robert Briffault, the European Renaissance was triggered not from Italy but from the Muslim Spain. Thus the claim, that we today as Muslims are not true adheres of the Quran, seems to be hitting the nail on the head.

How do I dare make such a statement you might ask? Let me give some examples in a humble way:

1.                   The Quran gives clear guidelines for the process of divorce, yet we have an instant divorce system by denouncing a phrase three times. This is contrary to the clear Quranic guidelines.  The Quran gives some very important and clear Laws for divorce in 2:228-234, 4:3, 4:19, 4:35, 4:128, 33:49, 58:1-3, 65:1-4.

2.                   The Quran outlines precisely as to what the marriageable age is, but no, we insist that we are allowed to marry a girl of 9 years old because the Noble Prophet did so. I contend that this is a slanderous lie against the Noblest of humanity. The criteria for the age of marriage is to be found in verses 4:6, 4:19 and 4:21 and those criteria are:

a.       Sufficient maturity to grant consent.

b.       Ability to sign a legal contract.

c.       Competence to take care of one's own finances.

3.                   The Quran guarantees freedom of religion, but we prescribe the death sentence by stoning to a person leaving Islam. See verses 18:29, 10:99, 42:48, 17:15, 4:137, 109:6, 2:256

4.                   The Quran sets out the punishment for adultery, but Muslims have legislated stoning to death which is contrary to the Quran.

5.                   The Quran guarantees equality to women, yet we relegate women as second class citizens according to many questionable ahadith which are upheld by the Muslim scholars because they purport it to be the Noble Rasool’s words.

6.                   The Quran is absolutely clear about warning against forming sects, but what do we find in present day Islam, dear reader? So many sects and divisions...

7.                   The Quran is vivid about the sanctity of marriage but Muslims have a different understanding of  "Ma Malakat Aymanukum",[33:50]. In this way we legalise sexual promiscuouity for men.

8.                   The Quran lays down the rules for government such as in verse 42:38  that we must conduct our affairs mutual consultation. But what kind of governments do we have in most of the so-called Muslim countries? Today, mutual consultation in political matters is the hallmark of democracy. (Ironically kingdoms, sheikdoms, despotism and autocratic rule today are seen mostly among countries that call themselves Muslim. This is another instance of the Muslims' departure from the Quran).

9.                   Murshids: At the Dawn of Islam, ideas such as murshids was the worst oppressor of humanity. They were considered to possess infinite occult powers. They were thought to know the Unseen and supposed to be intercessors between man and Allah.  The Quran announced that Allah is the only Knower of the Unseen (72:26). There is no medium between man and Allah because He is “closer to him than his jugular vein" (50:16). In the so-called west we see that humanity has been gaining freedom from this hold the world over. (Ironically once again, Muslims, not currently heeding the Quran, are lagging behind even in this arena.)

10.               The Quran guarantees Freedom of Speech and Assembly. Can we say the same of Muslim countries?

11.               Most translations of the Quran convey the message that wife beating is allowed in Islam. However, by studying the Quraish dialect one comes to realize that this is in fact erroneous. Dear reader please study this topic.

12.               Islam grants individuals the choice of spouse (4:3, 4:19), but we still continue with our arranged marriages.

13.               Pragmatism: Experimentation had no place in the Greek system of learning. Aristotle had written that women were deficient in intellect because they had only 28 teeth. He never investigated if this was true! He also stated that an egg would float in the ocean without verifying it yet again!  It was only Islam that taught mankind of the necessity of testing a theory or ideology by way of experimentation.  Viz: 17:36 and you shall not follow blindly any information of which you have no direct knowledge. (Using your faculties of perception and conception) you must verify it for yourself. In the Court of your Lord, you will be held accountable for your hearing, sight, and the faculty of reasoning. Sadly our jurists have declared that the door for research has closed which is contradicting to this very same verse.

Respected reader, my research indicates that the True Islam was implemented in the lifetime of the exalted Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his noble companions 14 centuries ago. No enlightened mind can deny the glory of humanity in that sacred era. Human dignity, women's rights, rule of law, justice and equity, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, true democracy, and sanctity of human life, honour and property have been well documented in the golden pages of history. Never since that sacred era has the world seen Islam as a collective System of Life in any nation.

To mention economic prosperity, the Islamic state of Medina was the only Empire in all history where it had become impossible to find a person willing to accept charity. The would-be second Caliph of Islam, Omar, the great, was the Chief Justice of the Empire in 633-34 CE. It is mind boggling to observe that not a single case was brought to his court about theft, rape, murder, robbery, or any form of violent crime. Non-Muslims used to embrace Islam by watching and experiencing the beauty of the true Islam.

At this stage dear reader, I am going to make a bold statement, which could be termed as controversial, but in essence I am asking you not to make any judgment but to think this statement through thoroughly:

It appears that the West is, unconsciously, a greater and practical believer in the Quranic Laws. The same laws that I have quoted above and which are being violated by the very Muslims. Yes, I agree that the west have at the same time also been incorporating some moral laws contrary to the Quran, but aside from that, the west have been silently adopting the Quranic laws.

I pray that the Muslims worldwide must stop and think over thisIs the Quran wrong?  It makes me wonder, that, perhaps a great majority of us Muslims are not indeed believers. We think of ourselves as believers because we have been born into the so-called Muslim families. However, we as Muslims today are slaves of false tradition and blind following.

Therefore, my contention is that we should get back to The Quran and implement the authentic laws and only then will we qualify to be restored in authority according to verse 024.055 of the Quran.

If we fail to do this, then the Noble Prophet will claim on the day of judgment:

Surah Furan

25:30 And the Messenger will say, “O my Lord! These are my people, the ones who had disabled this Quran making it of no account."

FinallyI would like to quote a passage from the book, Road to Mecca by Muhammad Asad which is indeed thought provoking.  He writes:

“In my endeavour to gain a fuller picture of what Islam really meant and stood for, I derived great benefit from the explanations which some of my Cairene Muslim friends were able to provide me. Outstanding among them was Shaykh Mustafa Al-Maraghi, one of the most prominent Islamic scholars of the time and certainly the most brilliant among the ulama of Al-Azhar University.[..] A pupil of the great Egyptian reformer Muhammed Abduh, and having associated in his youth with that inspiring firebrand, Jamal ad-Din al-Afghani, Shayk Al-Maraghi was himself a keen, critical thinker. He never failed to impress upon me that the Muslims of recent times had fallen very short indeed of the ideals of their faith, and that nothing could be more erroneous than to measure the potentialities of Muhammed's message by the yardstick of present-day Muslim life and thought. 'Just as' he said, 'it would be erroneous to see in the Christians'  unloving behaviour toward one another a refutation of Christ's message of love...' With this warning, Shayk Al-Maraghi introduced me to Al-Azhar.

Out of the crowded bustle of Mousky Street, Cairo's oldest shopping centre, we reached a small, out-of-the-way square, one of its sides occupied by the broad, straight front of the Azhar Mosque. Through a double gate and a shadowy forecourt we entered the courtyard of the mosque proper, a large quadrangle surrounded by ancient arcades. Students dressed in long, dark jubbas and white turbans were sitting on straw mats and reading with low voices from their books and manuscripts. The lectures were given in the huge, covered mosque-hall beyond. Several teachers sat, also on straw mats, under the pillars which crossed the hall in long rows, and in a semicircle crouched a group of students. The lecturer never raised his voice, so that obviously required great attention and concentration not to miss any of his words. One should have thought that such absorption would be conducive to real scholarship; but Shaykh Al-Maraghi soon shattered my illusions: {and now comes the important part, so pay close attention what this man says!} 'Dost thou sees those "scholars" over there? he asked me. 'They are like those sacred cows in India which, I am told, eat up all the printed paper they can find in the streets...Yes, they gobble up all the printed pages from books that have been written centuries ago, but they do not digest them. They no longer think for themselves; they read and repeat, read and repeat- and the students who listen to them learn only to read and repeat, generation after generation.' 'But, Shayk Mustafa,' I interposed, 'Al-Azhar is, after all, the central seat of Islamic learning, and the oldest university in the world! One encounters its name on nearly every page of Muslim cultural history. What about all the great thinkers, the theologians, historians, philosophers, mathematicians it has produced over the last ten centuries?' 'It stopped producing them several centuries ago. 'he replied ruefully.

Makes one wonder what character of scholar is taught at today's Islamic universities.
